Health, Disease and Mortality

MESU’s research on health, disease and mortality especially focus on epidemiological research regarding different disease outcomes both related to specific somatic and mental health disorders as well as all cause and cause-specific mortality.

We use the unique opportunities in Denmark to perform high quality nationwide register-based research. Through statistics Denmark we thus have created different cohorts of adult migrants and migrant children, which we are able to follow prospectively.

Further, we have worked with survey data especially pertaining to self-perceived health and symptoms of mental health. When possible our research has an international comparative perspective.

In our projects, we investigate how ethnicity, migrant status and socio-economic status work and interplay with one another as determinants of outcomes related to health, disease and mortality.
